What a winter season, no bowling, but an art group sprang out of the ether to keep us occupied, ably run by Liz Smerdon. After her expert coaching several members learnt a lot and created paintings over the winter period. Our bowling season starts next week, so to coincide with paying subs, eating bacon butties and homemade cakes at the club on Saturday, the art group set up an exhibition of their paintings. Ted Staite, head groundsman, displayed all the green equipment and machinery to show the members where their money is spent! For the uninitiated, it was impressive gear and showed just how much care and maintenance is needed to keep the equipment and the green in top order for the whole season. It was a good start to the new season and just whetted our appetites for getting together for the new bowling year.
