Ladies do Leamington!

So this week it’s the turn of the Ladies to have the spotlight on them. Joan Martin and Liz Smerdon have spent much time travelling up and down the M5 racking up the miles to Leamington Spa. The Ladies National Four of Joan Martin, Amy Simpson, Muriel Scott, and Liz Smerdon unfortunately lost 12 - 10 to Surrey in the first round and the outcome was the same for Joan and Liz in the Pairs as they went out 20 -12 to Worcestershire. However the same pair had much more success in the Over 55 Pairs and were so unlucky to go down 14 - 13 to Lincolnshire in the final end!
In the Devon competitions the Ladies InterClub team narrowly lost in the 2nd round to Barnstaple played at Morchard Bishop. The rink skipped by Joan Martin had a good win 21 - 12 but unfortunately the overall result was a loss by 1 as the rink skipped by Liz Smerdon lost 22 - 12. Liz did remarkably well in the County Singles played at Madeira Bowling Club to reach the final but then lost in a hard fought match.

In the County Pairs Karen and Mark Theedom lost in the final played at Cullompton and since last weeks article the Men’s National Two Fours lost their quarter final at Leamington to the eventual winners, Reading. (As a season ticket holder at Reading FC it is good to see that Reading can win something!)
Below you can see that it is going to be a very busy weekend at Crediton Bowling Club with many of the internal finals being played over the two days. After all the earlier rounds this is the culmination of the season and will give you all a chance to see some of the top bowlers of Crediton, Devon and even England battling it out for their internal Club honours. The bar will be open for you to enjoy some refreshment while being entertained so why not come down to the green and watch the action.
