The bowling season is well and truly up and running with friendly fixtures, league, club and County competitions well under way. It is pleasing to see so many new members and this weekend gives more of you the opportunity to come and try. There are two taster sessions being held at Crediton Bowling Club on Saturday 18th June. The morning session is between 10.00 and 1.00 with an afternoon session running from 2.00 to 4.00. Qualified coaches will be on hand to help anyone get used to the vagueries of the bowling ball and who knows you could well get the bug!

Some clubs are still struggling occasionally to honour friendly fixtures but we were delighted to play members of West Sussex bowling club while on their tour. Pictured above is one of the six rinks that played and a match that ended with a Crediton victory.

Needless to say there were many afternoons of fun during the 4 day Jubilee celebrations. A special flag was flown, the railings and clubhouse were decked out with bunting and flags. Instead of club clothing the dress code was red, white and blue and prizes included jubilee memorabilia.

Crediton Bowling Club have many entries in the Section 4 of Devon bowls competitions. It might still be quite early but the Club is proud that it already has the following qualifiers for the next phase. Mens Fours team of Richard Gunn, Allan Gibb, Richard Ellis and Mark Theedom and they have been joined by Liz Smerdon who has qualified in the Ladies 4 wood competition. Nikki Payne, having made the move to the club this season, has qualified in the Ladies 2 wood and the Triples qualifiers are Amy Simpson, Helen Ellis and Liz Smerdon.
