We are very proud to announce that our member Robert Paxton has won the Bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games in Broadbeach Australia. The atmosphere was electric, as the Gold meadal was also in contention at the same time with an Austalian playing and eventually winning it. I had decided to visit the games as I was in Australia at that time anyway. I was fascinated by all the immediate preparation of the green prior to the matches, with machines traversing to roll, cut and criss cross the playing areas many times. It looked 'brown', as most Australian rinks do, and I thought it would be fast. They announced the speed of the rinks as the players started their game. The TV booms and equipment were all around and it must have taken some concentration to ignor them! I have added pictures to give a flavour of the day. Christine Marshall. Well done Rob!
